Slag wool is a white cotton-like mineral fiber made from slag as the main raw material. It is melted in a melting furnace to obtain the melt and then refined. It has thermal insulation, sound insulation, cold insulation and other properties.

There are two methods for producing slag wool: injection method and centrifugal method. The method in which the raw materials flow out after being melted in the furnace, that is, blown into slag wool with steam or compressed air, is called the injection method. After the raw materials are melted in the furnace, they fall on the rotating disk and are thrown into slag wool by centrifugal force. This method is called centrifugal method.

The main raw material of slag wool is blast furnace slag, accounting for about 80% to 90%, and 10% to 20% dolomite, fluorite or other materials such as red bricks, pebbles, etc. The fuel for the production of slag wool is coke. There are three processes: production of dispensing materials, melting and blowing, and packaging.

Slag wool can be used as insulation materials, sound-absorbing materials and fire-proof (based on actual reports) materials. The finished products processed by it include insulation boards, insulation felts, insulation cylinders, insulation tapes, sound-absorbing panels, narrow felt strips, and Vocal cords, refractory boards and heat-resistant fibers, etc. Slag wool is widely used in metallurgy, machinery, construction, chemical industry and transportation sectors.
